The Universal vs. The Tri...
Being human has an inherent tension built into our existence–the universal and the tribal. Sometimes, we are compelled to look inward–affirming our own dignity and right to security. Sometimes, we feel called to enact a vision for society defined by justice and equity for all. So when we strive to be more human, how do we balance our tribal needs with our universal values? Join us as we explore the tension of those values and challenge our own assumptions about where we see ourselves on that spectrum.
RSVP to receive the location of the class. -

Uncovering Our Humanity w...
What does it mean to Strive to Be Human in a world which all too often challenges our humanity? What does it even mean to be human? In the book of Genesis, we read, "And God blew into the nostril the breath of life, neshimatchayim, and the human became a living being." The nefesh (soul) is the key ingredient which transforms a human into a living being. In this course, we will strive and struggle with our own souls and our sense of purpose in the world as we uncover what it means to be living beings.
